Setting the record straight part 2

Last week, I answered a number of false accusations that the WCC has made against the current WCRP and the Elevate 2025 slate made up of five current members and three new candidates.

Since then, the WCC has doubled down on their accusation that the Contest Credentialing Committee (CCC) is unethically cheating in favor of Elevate 2025. Aside from the fact that this is an absurd accusation, it is harmful to the conservative republican brand here in Williamson County..

For people who are not involved in Williamson County politics, the message from the WCC is, by design, very concerning and confusing. Being told that the current and future leadership of the WCRP is unethical and corrupt is an obvious smear campaign. aiming to sow seeds of doubt in the minds of voters as to the integrity of the current board and the Elevate 2025 slate.

It is crystal clear to me that the WCC slate is not going to improve the WCRP. Quite to the contrary, they have not proposed any coherent plan to "improve the WCRP". Instead, they have denigrated the current board in every way possible.

They have sent out at least six mailers to republican voters in the county as well as numerous text messages and robo phone calls. The latest mailer that just came out Thursday is a case in point. Notice the keywords, "rig", "confuse", "Democrats", and "suppress". These words carry a lot of emotional weight and imply nefarious intent. This is their whole campaign in a nutshell.

This whole mailer is patently untrue. The reason that the venue has been changed is that the the original venue, The Liberty Hall at the Factory, cannot hold more than 850 people. There are well over 900 people registered so far. If the CCC didn't change the venue, then many qualified participants would be prevented from voting because there would not be enough room for them to attend.

Williamson County Election Commission

The election Commission met on Friday and they will be meeting again on the 7th at 4:00 pm at 405 Down Blvd, Franklin agenda

  • Arrangements are being made for the May 6th election in Brentwood.
    • Candidates accepted:
      • Janet Donahue
      • Kim Smithson Gawrys
      • Mark Gorman
      • Rhea Little III
      • Allison Spears
    • They decided to delay until next month locking the absentee/early voting & election day ballot boxes for the Brentwood election.  They’re looking at different equipment for this.
  • The commission discussed a policy concerning a poll watcher becoming a poll worker during the same election.
    • They determined that past poll watchers are, indeed, eligible to become a poll worker, just not in the same election.
    • The WCEC can approve and disapprove anyone they wish to serve as a poll worker.
    • There was a subsequent discussion about qualifying a person as a poll worker, but it wasn’t spelled out.  We’re seeking an answer.
  • They gave an update on the voter list maintenance efforts
    • Chad reported they’ve been working through the county’s voter roll since Christmas and now have removed 8,600 voters who hadn’t voted in either the November 2022 election or the November 2024 election.
    • Approximately 192,000 on rolls now.
    • They confirmed they get regular documentation from the state to integrate in the WC rolls; National Change of Address (NCOA) list comes quarterly.
    • They decided to change their process from sending a voter verification postcard to a citizen to a letter that will help the WCEC better explain what is occurring and the process.
    • They are tracking several bills currently in the General Assembly having to do with list maintenance.
  • Doug Grindstaff, one of the Republican members of the Williamson County Election Commission, announced he would be leaving after March.
    • We need to start looking for possible Republican replacements to get to the Williamson delegation to hopefully replace Grindstaff.  This is a rare opportunity for grassroots conservatives!
    • Looking for someone who understands technology, elections and is willing to stand boldly in order to stop the machines and help move the county from vote centers to precincts and bring in hand-marked paper ballots.
    • More personal guidance can be given on this.
  • They established the next meeting for Friday, March 7 at 4 p.m.
