Who's Bill Petty?
Bill serves as County Commissioner for District 10. With a lifetime of diverse experiences, Bill brings a unique perspective and a passion for community service.
Born into a family of faith, Bill lived in various states before enlisting in the Army in 1964. He served with the 82nd Airborne until 1967, including an 18-month deployment to the Dominican Republic.
After his honorable discharge, Bill pursued education with passion. He earned two degrees from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, launching a diverse career that included developing a high school psychology department, coaching a state champion girls' track team, and founding his own construction company, Petty & Associates, in 1995.
Throughout his life, Bill has been dedicated to giving back. He's served as president of the Nebraska Kidney Foundation, board member for Big Brothers Big Sisters, and leader in various community and faith organizations including Mom's For Liberty here in Williamson County.
Bill's journey has taken him from Omaha to Chicago to Evanston, Illinois, leaving a positive impact in each of his neighborhoods. Now calling Williamson County home, Bill continues his tradition of active citizenship. Bill regularly attends (and comments at) government meetings, consistently publishing weekly updates about what is going on in our county. He also volunteers regularly at Graceworks Ministries, and serves as the chapter coordinator for Guitars for Vets.
Bill and his wife Mary have been married since 1969. They're proud parents and grandparents, with his son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren living in Green Hills, and his daughter who lives in Evanston with her husband and two grandchildren.
